Default Fork cap

Anyone know if the fork cap bolt size is 1 3/8 on a 97 touring bike? Fixing to upgrade to progressive monotube. Looks like a pita to get the caps off.

Actually it's a metric size but 1 3/8ths worked on my friends bagger when I had to change his fluid.
His was a '99 Street Glide.

Yes, I believe it is.
This socket is a useful tool.

I know a 15" adjustable wrench will work very well.

Thanks for the info. I plan on ordering the motion pro socket, but wanted to make sure t was the correct size. No way of getting an adjustable wrench in there with the inner fairing on.

I had to remove the nachelle when I did mine on the RK.
Bows a good time to change the bushings etc in there. I was surprised at the amount of crud hung up in the bottom of the forks when I changed over to the RaceTech set up and cleaned them out.

For sure on that! Fork work on a Batwing bike is the ultimate 'may as well' situation. New bushings. New seals.

Getting to them is such a pain, you don't want to have to go back anytime soon.
