Help needed ID-ing transmission
Right then, bought some bits as a packagedeal and one of the bits is supposed to be a Revtech 6-speed trans for a softtail.
All shiney and as new BUT it doesn't say 'Revtech' or '6' on the side like the ones I see advertised online...
So I'm not even sure it is a Revtech, let alone a 6-speed...
It does have a serialno. which reads: 583401194
The no. seems to be engraved by hand or by a rather slopy machine...
Anyway, I couldn't find a mailadress for Revtech to ask them...
The only other marking is a small cast logo on the bottom of the casing itself, which is a small oval with what looks to be 'CCI' in it?
Anyone?

Hi Steph, I'll talk to ya! Take a look at CCI's website and you will see RevTech features prominently, so at the least the two seem to be joined at the hip. You may just find your trans illustrated in their catalogue. CCI may also be able to answer any queries. I've looked in the past for contact details for RevTech and they seem to be invisible to the internet of things!
Now that was usefull sir!
If I check on the CCI website, the part.no for a polished Revtech 6-speed overdrive starts with:
58340
So same as my trans and that is a polished item as well so I guess I have a 6-speed overdrive trans...
It was used with a Rivera beltdrive primary and a 124" engine and even though I've read some horror stories about Revtech, it's still in one piece...
I also see that they offer a 5 year or 50.000 mile warranty, so can't be all that bad now can it?

Well, it remains to be seen if that's good news...
Apperantly the gears are thinner than stock to fit the 6-speed in the stockcasing en you do read some horror-stories on them, even though others seem to be satisfied with them...
Can't be THAT bad or CCI would be out of business in no time with that warranty?
I do understand Baker is better BUT this one's already on my workbench and there's no money left for a Baker item...so I guess we'll have to see...
It's not a daily ride though, just for the occasional blast around town so if it breaks...oh well.

6 will go into 5! Several firms have achieved that, including the MoCo themselves. I could have used an H-D 6-spd OD cluster in my 1990 Glide, but went for a Baker DD instead. If you can resist drag-race starts you will probably be fine......
