Default Compression Release Valves

I have a 2002 96" EVO special construction rigid bobber, with some S&S parts that I can't get a 2.0 KW starter to last more than a couple years before they burn out trying to overcome the compression. What is a good price for the machining for compression releases? Or is there another direction I should be looking?

My S&S engine came with auto CRs. No idea what it will cost to get the heads machined to add them, I suggest you ask around local indy shops. It is similar to adding extra spark-plug holes. You have two options: mechanical ones, which are hand-operated and obviously need to be accessible; or auto ones which can be tucked out of the way - I can't even see mine. They operate on pressing the starter button, as if by magic!

When I had a set of heads done by NRHS they added $50/head to machine the holes for the CR's next to the spark plug. Then I bought Briggs and Stratton button CR's for like $15.
