The manuals are simple to do yourself if that's the only thing you are doing to the heads. Of course you'll need to buy or rent the jig. If you want to have them worked, I'd send them to Bean (Big Boyz). He knows what he's doing and prices are very reasonable.

Do you really need them? I would have thought a recent bike has plenty of spare starter power for most engine upgrades. Admittedly I have an S&S 107 with automatic decompressors in my old Evo, but my original stock starter is 21 years old!

Either that or just install S&S easy start cams when you change cams?

heads will be off and currently my 96" a close your eyes while hitting the start switch ......if it's the first crank of the day..no problem....but if you crank again within 15 minutes I get the crank bang grind. Can't imagine going to 103 would make it better. btw, harley put compression release on all their touring 2012 models.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. The automatic ones on my S&S motor are great! Worth going with them rather than manual IMHO.

I had a local indy shop do my heads for the manual compression releases. My bike is a 103 now with 10.5-1 compression AND it does need them!

That noise you are saying you get might be something else, like your compensator.
