evo kill switch
I have been using the kill switch to shut off the engine on my `89 for 28 years, never had a problem, still the original switch.
I agree with Ranger73, the alarm may be causing the issue, you should not have to shut the ignition down a certain way just to make the alarm happy...
What do you mean when you say won`t start, does the starter crank the engine, or does the starter not work?

Quick question before I go into my rambling. Does your bar switch feel new and notchy with a crisp click? Or does it feel more like a smooth squish? One of mine is squishy.
I have a couple of Evos, and one has this problem as well. If you shut it off by bar switch it may or may not turn over again. I tried starting her on the first key click no lights and worked for a while but messed up again. Had an extra key switch so I threw it in and worked fine for awhile as well. I did notice that if I ran her everyday she was more forgiving on starting.
Long story short I am leaning toward the bar switch as well.
