Have you tried either of the links I provided to see if they can fix it for you?

The speedo can be taken apart...and put back together as good a new carefully and it takes awhile.

If your going to replace it, then you have nothing to lose. I have posted how to take an analog one apart in the past on this forum.

The description on how to is lengthy, but the process is not hard. Just takes patience and time. A search should bring it up.

I took mine apart because the screw that holds the tripmeter reset mechanism inside the speedo worked it's way loose and fell out. Took about an hour to take apart (most of the time spent was removing the chrome ring-that is the part that you have to be careful with).

It took two minutes to apply Loctite and replace the screw. YD

Japan

......... but seriously, check with one of the speedo repair places, or shop ebay for one with the speedo toasted.

Actually, welcome to the "my HD speedo took a ****" club. Buy another.

This. I'm on my third speedometer. My first one quit counting miles somewhere between 103,000 and 104,000 miles (it had just turned over to 00,000, so it was no longer accurate). I replaced it with another stock speedo, then a few years later I put on a '62/'67 style speedometer because I like the looks better, and the odometer was no longer really accurate anyway.

I keep a record of the total mileage in my service logbook.

One more vote to just buy a new speedometer.

Before I pull the trigger, what are these wires for? This speedo is identical to mike except those wires, and the rubber dampner which I'm not too worried about...

I'm going to GUESS the black one is ground and the white-green is the instrument light. Although it MIGHT be a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) for the computer on a EFI bike or it might be the VSS for a radio volume. What bike did it come off of?
