Default Starter coupling

Any one know which way this coupling on the starter drive (#45) faces? there's an internal snap ring that is offset. The drawing sort of looks like the shorter end is facing out but can't be sure.

Lemme check, I never removed mine from 42 so the orientation should be OEM.

Hot off the press, short snap ring side points towards starter:

took this pic a few years ago, and saved it on the phone. saved me a headache a few times (the 124 isnt kind to starter clutches)
