Are all throttle and idle cables of the same quality? Last year in May I broke a idle cable. I replaced the set with a v twin manufacturing brand and 3000 miles later 250 miles from home yesterday. I crossed the nc state line at ceasers head and snap, broken throttle cable I didn't have any tools which is my bad won't happen again. luckily a nice lady had the two torx screwrivers to take the switch apart. After a hour of fighting with zip ties I finally got the idle cable in place of the throttle just to make it home. So my main question is now I am looking at custom length magnum shielding cables are they of better quality than say burly or v twin? I need 53 inch cable housings to keep the routing the way I like it to be.

You already have the answer to your first question - no! All my cables are still genuine Harley ones, but I will follow THC's advise when the time comes to replace any of mine.
