I'm looking for some recommendations for exhaust pipes for my 1985 FXRS. Been running a set of Cycle shack staggered duals for several years. One of them appears to be developing a crack along the body of the "header" portion of the pipe. Not close to the head...just down the pipe about halfway, before the curve.
I have mid-controls and forward highway pegs. Don't want to give up either.
Also don't want to have to go to drag pipes.
Any thoughts on what's still on the market for one of these..???
I've even thought about trying to get a welding shop to address the crack, then get my current pipes coated. Don't know how successful that will be, but welcome any comments on that idea too.
Thanks.
If you can find drag pipes surely you can find direct replacements! For our Touring Evos any stock system up to 2008 will fit and I suspect later model pipes will fit your FXR, perhaps from a FXD? Anyone else care to comment?!
Almost anything Including Twinky pipes will attach, at the Heads..
While I much prefer the Stock FXR headpipe, Cycle Shack still offers the Staggered duals setup..
Personally I'm going to try the H-D [prolly screamin eagle] 2 into one. It was probably Not marketed for the FXR specifically... but I think it will be Fine..
^^ Or do it right... in the right place ala Thunderheader...
Most Racers know at least a Little bit about Reversion... and any 2-stroke Guy will know much more..
I am pretty sure that Cycle Shack is out of business. I tried to buy a replacement to the exhaust I am currently running, but the web site was shut down. Still may be some old stock somewhere out there though.
Perhaps I got some bad information, but I thought Cycle Shack was out of business and not offering anything.
Bad information..??

Could be... Tho Last winter, a friend got a set from J&P.. I believe it was J&P???
I'm gonna tell you that if you can find an older set of Pythons III 2-2 pipes you will not be disappointed. I still have my set and my wife loves them as well. Once I get away from top performance they will be going back on... They are an all around awesome pipe.. especially when it comes to sound on an Evo..... This is very typical to how they sound...
And this is how they perform.. A nice long torque curve...... No they alone don't make huge power. What I'm trying to show you is that they really do not hurt the down low and can still carry out....
