Default repair question...

I took my primary cover off to do some maintence and cleaning.... ( glad I did too) I found a bolt in the bottom of the primary. It was a primary to engine bolt. This bolt has a bunch of holes drilled in the head of it. so does the one underneath it. Which was very loose as well. I see in the manual these bolts should be wired together.... what type of wire should I used and is there a special way to twist the the wire after running it through both bolts...... or should I just lock tite the bolts and use lock washers and not use the wire.....

Thanks Ben

you should wire those two bolts

I don't get too **** about this...I just get a length of any kinda wire hanging round that feels right, and get with it after loctite'ing and properly torqueing them.

i make sure top bolt has the wire tired at 6 oclock and the bottom bolt has it twisted at 12'oclock...then there is no chance that either bolt can move far, see? Though chances of it happening are minimal if the whole job is done right.

those bolt holes can get clogged so test-run the wire through them *before* you run the bolts in....

Hey, Outfish,
I was just wondering, what happened to the wire that was supposed to be there? Was it left off,....did it break, and went where?
Who was in the motor last?......just curious,......inquiring minds want to know........

I like to use one of these Inner Primary Bolt Retainers. Part # 6100210 at J&P Cycles.
It may not work on a wet clutch, mine is a dry clutch and these work great.
