Default Touring VOES Mounting

I am switching my RK to carb and it appears the VOES mounts directly onto the motor mount horizontally but the lock ring won't stay in place. How is this switch supposed to sit? Do I use the bracket that came with it?

I also assume the choke cable is retained with a zip tie up into it's slot. What is that rubber grommet hole for?

Not finding much in the Service or Parts Manual or pics on the internet. Pics of that area would be helpful.

I just cut the hose short and let it flop around in there.

When i did the carb conversion on my 98 ultra, I mounted the voes to the back of the horn bracket. I know it is supposed to be mounted closer, but it worked just fine.

Cool

How about your 1991 FXRS? Does that still have a VOES and stock choke cable? At the most all you need to do is make up a simple extra bracket to mimic your other bike and add it to the horn mount.

The FXR has a different motor mount and cable bracket. I got that ripped apart as well to revise it a bit to reflect my older self.

I'm trying to get that mount area to stock. I could easily just bolt it together with the included thin bracket and be done with it easy enough but I am neurotic. It appears to mount the VOES horizontal on the cable/horn bracket but the retaining ring won't grip the switch enough to hold it in place due to the metal thickness. Maybe I have an odd switch.

Google images ain't coming up with anything and my books don't show the area.

Did you swap out the motor mount or modify your EFI mount?

Neither. I mounted the voes to the horn bracket. I bought a VOES from ebay that was already in a mounting bracket with a hole.

I got the same VOES. How did you manage the choke cable with the old motor mount?

You could mount it on the moon and it will not matter as long as the hose does not collapse and the wires stay hooked up.
Use wire ties even to hold it in place
