90 FLHTCU Thunderheader rubbing against floorboard
My exhaust is rubbing against the heat shield and floor board bracket. I've already tried loosening the exhaust, shoving it towards the engine and re tightening everything but after awhile it'll start rubbing again. Any ideas? It's driving me nuts. I had the belt and pulleys replaced by a local indie shop and they had a helluva time doing it since the rear axle shaft was seized in the bushings. Could my engine be out of alignment? I'm at a loss here on where to start next.
Your headers should be clamped to a bracket that is bolted to the transmission. Its hsrd to tell from the pics - but if your head pipes are moving out check for a cracked mount at the trans.

Yes sir, they're bolted to that bracket and I'll check it for cracks. Thank you.
I do know that if you don not tighten the Flange nuts evenly it will pull the pipe in or out... With a 3/8" nut driver i just barely snug the pipe to the heads while jiggling the pipe in and out to set the pipe in the heads. Once the flanges are evenly set to the port of the head then I start the torque sequence 1 full turn at a time starting with the front lower nut, front upper nut, rear lower, rear upper. Continuing this sequence till pipe is fully torqued down with a 1/4" ratchet. Are you using the old style flat mesh Gaskets? If not you should be....

I'm using HD OEM p/n 65324-83B. Thanks for the tips on bolting down the pipes.
When I installed the ThunderHeader on my 1993 FLHS last spring, I had to move the floorboard out.
There was no way, and I tried numerous things, that the head pipe would not make contact with the floorboard. You can fabricate spacers, or buy them from Kuryakyn. Which is what I did.

A quick fix is to use a longer bolt and stack some washers. It only needs to be spaced out a little bit, and naturally, you only need to do the right side.
Good grief that was a PIA to remove the rear bolt. Had to unbolt the master cylinder, use PB blaster and a vice grip on the bracket for more leverage. I'd rather re-seal my inner Primary again.
So how many washers or what length bushing did you guy's use?
