Hi yall, so recap is 97 FLHR Road King, carb. I have posted inquiry before on why my right side pipe has wisps of smoke coming out after warm up during idle. I have tried the spraying into exhaust manifold to detect leaks but dont get anything from that. It also runs very well so im not thinking its a rich thing. I do happen to go through alot of oil though and was wondering if its burning it. I have no detectable leaks but have had to put a quart in off and on in the last 3000 miles. Is that normal?
I have 55,555 miles so not sure if rings, gaskets etc. might need to be replaced?
thanks for your offerings!
I'd say a quart per 3000 miles for a big twin isn't all that much, specially when its pushed to its limits. Mine uses less, but I ride it like a turtle on roofies.
"wisps of smoke coming out after warm up during idle" suggest a valve seal has gone south?
