SDM, you have some excellent advice in here already - do follow up on it! Don't put all your faith in adding something extra to the party, as Carl points out.

98% gone, yea i would look at the exhaust flange gaskets.... Or a possible intake leak. Need to check those first...

Been a while on this one- Trying to order the Engine temp sensor most of you referred to as a possible issue. I can't find one for a 1998 FLTRI. Most of the fitments start at 1999. Are they the same? I see them on JP Cycles and other sites but nothing for 1998-

It's shown as still being available on an H-D parts website, Outpost Alaska H-D.

I just googled "32446-95a sensor" and found several for sale. One was as cheap as $65. Here, I'll throw you a bone: http://www.2040-parts.com/harley-eng...nos-i1053617/. Surdyke had one and I believe newcastle HD was another. Roughly $75-$80.

I keep a spare in my shop but was almost tempted to buy another for that $65 price. Never saw one that cheap. Buy 2 if you can. You'll want a spare. It might be several years before it goes, but it's going.
