The point I was trying to make is that the term "vintage" has an older connotation than antique if we are using the definition that something older than 25 years is an antique.
If we assume the term vintage applies to an era, it's difficult for me to think a motorcycle with say:
electronic speedometer
ABS
Fuel Injection
LEDs
is a vintage motorcycle
Hmmm, maybe you can even add a starter to the list

Except in another 25 yrs we will be powered by unlimited perpetual motion. So it is all relevant.
The Antique Motorcycle Club of America has a 35 year rule for inclusion as an antique. Which is under debate on their forum as a concern for some. Per the rules, during the 2019 Show Season at AMCA events first year Evolution Softails are considered antique and can be entered for judging etc. Evos at an AMCA meet, the world may stop spinning. But time marches on.
That said I would not refer to my '91 or '97 as vintage in a casual conversation. If someone stated that to me, I would expect to see a Shovel at a minimum, and honestly if they said "vintage" I am looking for a Pan or Knuckle.

Depends...vintage, classic, historical, and antique get mixed around depending on what car club or organization you are talking about ...there is no definitive definition in years of any of them .

How old do you feel now!?!??!?!?!
i have a shovel head and i don't consider it "vintage". i'm with you on the pan and knuckle being vintage tho. my 85 fl and my shovel have "collector" plates on them because they're over 20 years old and that is the law here and being "collector" i don't get plate renewal notices anymore.
FWIW; Mirriam-Webster; period of origin or manufacture... ie, a piano of 1845 vintage
So are we talkin '70's vintage, '80's vintage or '90's vintage????
Antique is worser... Most call it 100 years.. oddly in the vehicular world, it is variable, cars?? maybe 20-30 years. Motorcycles??? as we see there is Plenty of Disparity.
Our State considers 26 + years old as Historical vehicle..
so my Newest bike, has a 2 years to go.... Wow!!!!!
Me? I expect Shovelhead and older certainly... maybe an old vertical twin Honda... like the Dream!!!! A two stroke Street bike maybe...How bout a Real Brit?? any Russian previous to 2000!!!! LOL
BTW most of the Shows in my little patch of Rhubarbs, have implemented the True Vintage Classes... generally Pre-50's Vintage and then the Decades from there.. '60's, 70's '80's Vintage etc...
Antique???? IDK that I have a valid argument for what constitutes an antique Motorcycle.... Maybe Pre Transmission???
