Hello.
Lost my left lid and need to buy a replacement. 1985 FLTC.
The question is if I can use the later models lids , like 1994 - 2013 touring models? The lower bag dimensions are the same ?
The price for the pair of later ones(with speaker grills) is lower then for the original or replacement one left side only.
It is very hard to find in my country bike to measure.and I don't want to make any mistake because of shipping and import taxes will cost me three times as much.
Thanks
Hi Leon, I have a 1990 Glide, which came with the same bags as yours and have converted to the later spec bags. Although they look very similar, the later bags are actually bigger all round than the earlier ones and the lids will not swap over. One reason I did the swap was to get the increased capacity. So sorry, that won't work! If it's any consolation those older bags are not easy to find anywhere. Living in the UK I bought my new bags from the USA, so have the same experience as you do with shipping costs etc.
Leon, here ya go! This is a link to a thread showing my experience of changing over to the later bags. Go to post #29 to see new and old left-hand bags beside each other, showing how different they are in size.
