Bet he will do it. Tell him your looking at a similar bike cheaper but you have to move on it pretty quick.

It's not that far from the truth. There is a 1998 Wide Glide with 18k miles near us for under $5k...which I did mention to him

He just called, I made the deal at $4,900. I'll give him a deposit tomorrow and finish it as soon as he gets the title in the mail from NV DMV.

And so begins the nightmare. I'd rather see an oil leak then a no-title-in-hand situation. The 93 I bought a couple of years ago had a title issue which wasn't revealed until after we had agreed on a price. Did some checking through some sources I had available and fortunately found out the bike was ligit. In light of the title issue I got him to drop the price another $500. I had the bike and the title two weeks later.

This is just my opinion but I wound't give any money for a bike until I can see the title in my hand.

absolutely. I told him I'd give him a small token deposit and when the title comes in we will complete the deal with the cash.
