Default Clutch basket wobble

I bought a new inner clutch hub, and took it to a garage to have it pressed in the clutch basket. I installed it, etc, etc. Started the bike and heard the most awful whine grinding noise. I took everything apart (again), and noticed my chain was rubbing the outer bracket on my Hayden chain tensioner, it was never that close ( always centered up on the shoe). I disassembled everything, and spun the inner clutch hub, and the basket had a very bad wobble. I looked at the bearing, and it was bent.
The basket and hub seam to spin with no wobble until I put it on the shaft. Do you think it's just the bearing? Never had this problem until today. I hope I didn't bend the shaft.
Also, can you start the bike with the basket off, and the compensator tight, to check the shaft?

What year bike? Did you also buy a new bearing? If you did not, it is possible that the bearing is damaged. It is highly recommended that when you replace the clutch hub, you should use a new bearing.

87 EGC FLHTC. No new bearing but got one last night. I only ran it for a minute. Hope I didn't bend the shaft.

Same clutch as mine. Staying positive, I don't think any harm was done to the tranny mainshaft, since you only ran it for a minute and under no load.

No, it was seated. That I dbl, dbl checked before bolting it up. A drop of super glue makes sure it doesn't move. Old timer biker told me that one.

Okay..... got a new bearing pressed in, got it all put back together. Everything spun nice and true. Put her all back together, everything torqued to specs and started her up. There is a "whirring" sound coming from the primary. Could I have put the chain on backwards? This is all in lieu of installing the new stator and rotor. Or is it just break-in noise? "bout to pull my hair out!!!!
