Default Ignition

looking to change my ignition, right now I am running the original one. I had some engine work done and was told I would benefit more with a new ignition, I have a Revolution Performance 85” piston and cylinders 10.5:1 with ported and polished heads and a Tman 590 cam. My question is, what is a good ignition and do I need to mess with the timing, what I am really looking for is a simple plug and play.

Dynatek 2000p
What year is your bike?
I ask because depending on the year you need either a 7 pin or 8 pin connector.

I believe that's an 8 pin connector.
It's easy enough to check. Simply unplug your current ignition module and count the pins.

The Dynatech is a good choice... I do Not recommend Singlefire unless you have dual plugs... but, I do Not like to spend $$ unnecessarily!!!
with single plug heads Singlefire is just a Buzzword... for the Cool kids... not any benefit that can be Proven... BTDT
Willing to look at real proof otherwise... Not a Dyno either thanks... Time slip will work tho...

A lot of it depends on the other mods.
A proper squish is key to getting the ping to go away, and max pwr
I get away with over 11 to 1 CR double plug / Daytona TT

Wink

A problem with the stock ignition module is that the timing curves are compromised, to help meet EPA specs, so changing to an aftermarket module is a good idea, even for a stock bike. The Dynatek Dyna 2000 (note correct spelling!) has a choice of advance curves, which will give improved running over stock, also provide a more suitable curve for your mods. Check their website. I used a Crane for many years, which had similar benefits.

The only aftermarket I have worked with is Daytona .
It is quite simple to work with and offers a LOT of options.
PLUS
If you have a question the guys in Florida will answer the phone and speak in real english to help you out.
That is a nice option to have also

97 has Duetch 8 pin connector but that won't matter if you go with the Dynatek D2ki.. Its all in the nose cone as well as the Ultima...
