Congrats.... I hope you don't change it from the current Blue metalic if that's correct but it is very sweet.. I also like the addition of the buck horns... Is that the first year of the belt drive and are your tubes 2" over?

No they had belts on the 84 shovel FXWG, and maybe earlier.
Yes, it's the original 4 speed.
Stock length fork tubes on it now. Previously I had 2" under tubes. I reinstalled the factory original tubes. Had them tucked away.
Great looking bike. Love the early solid mounted fxwg fxsb and fxef.
When I was in the market to upgrade from an Ironhead sportster to a big twin it was between an 84' FXSB Shovelhead and an 85' FXSB Evo (used market). It was a tough decision but I ended up with the Shovelhead. It's been a great bike and I'm sure I'd been just as happy with the Evo.
In case anybody is searching, I have some very rare 85/86 seats. Both the original FXWG stock seat, and the pillow/button seat pictured above.
