I probably would've gone the S & S long block route. If you want to take your existing engine apart, have at it, but I'd rather have the superior S & S in service anyway. Since you cases are junk, you might want to sell the guts if there's any market for them. Been there done this...back in around 1977-79. (Threw a chain and wadded it up into the center cases, while riding 2-up.)
Ah yes, the good old days...

Just so every one know's it's a 96" Evo that currently has 115/tq and 111/hp. I'm very satisfied with the performance. I'm looking for reliability... Sure I can spend another $1k on pistons and cylinders but my heads were already configured stage III for Axtell 30* angle top pistons. So If I change that set up it means new heads... The current heads are specifically machined at 94.1 cc to accept the Axtell pistons.... So it's not just a piston and cylinder upgrade..

Give it a couple of years lol, the older Evo members are very aware of the 3 hp quest

Happy Thanksgiving hotrod! Its always something, but we love it. I need my head examined 😏, ordering a pipe for sure, maybe switching to a tts tuner and a larger tb too. Just can't leave it alone.

Yea, that was a trying time... I had this passion for more out of a small block, so to speak... Money and reliability steered me in another direction.. Probably age had something to do with it as well.. Actually gonna knock the comp down a tad....

Yea,I saw over in the Dyna section that you're still cruising... That's cool but if you really want a significant upgrade a 117" in the 130+ range is were you should concentrate...

Keep something in mind, bigger the beast over stock the more attention intensive and less reliable it will be, 96" is a sweet spot for evo's so nice choice. Anything bigger the longevity starts dropping off. I love the evo 113's but they were a 30K motor as far as reliable life went.

In honesty, pulling some compression made my big cube so much more every day riding friendly and problem free, starting to forget how to work on one. Think it would be a good move for reliability, haven't regretted it one bit.

Where I'm going to go with my shovel eventually, while 11.7-1 is crazy fun to play with it's a pain in the *** honestly, just the battery & starter games I've had to play have been epic. Kicker is the only reliable way to start it and with my bum hip and old tired *** that's gotten to be more than I want to deal with.

Just giving you the usual joking around BS, good luck on the build and looking forward to the pictures and progress.
