Has anybody taken a stock 98 evo with fuel injection and just change out pistons and barrels to maby 88 cubes. My buddy did 92 cubes and the bike runs like a mother but is like a blast furnace between your legs. He also did the cam and a Mikuni. I'm looking for stock sound and reliability.
Sounds like he's running lean. Maybe he needs to adjust his air/fuel ratios.
You could have the same problems at 88 inches or even 80 inches if you mess with breathing (air cleaner, exhaust and then maybe a cam) and don't richen the mixture.
With carbs they rejet them. With computers they have to be remapped in some way.
Anything big enough to make a big change will req. your cases to be bored. I havedone alot of evo performance upgrades and I like this upgrade the best.S&S super stock heads and pistons leaving the bottom end at 80cid. with a EV59 cam, and some free flow muffers and you will have a very fast and reliable engine, and you could build it yourself on a weekend.
