When I lived in New York up to three years ago they just checked your headlight, tail, brake and blinkers. And if you look it up it for NY it states they cannot fail an inspection if the fog lights are not working. Driving lights, fogs, same group.
From NYS inspection site;
These items cannot cause you to reject a vehicle. The items are
bumpers
fog lights
Lots more but not needed
Just for info in NY
I was a New York State Motorcycle inspector for years. The law states ALL lights that are on the bike at the time of inspection must work.
Was BSing with the TCH. He reminded me that you probably have circuit breakers. Choose one of the 15 amp breakers that are only on when Ing. switch is on.
Older breakers have a stud and nut to attach wires to. Run a wire from harness side of breaker to the switch for the spots (passing lamps) .
Most times when spots are added to a bike the power for them is a wire spliced on to the Headlight low beam wire near the headlamp itself.
Sorry it took so long, it's been a busy week. We did find the problem(s). Pinched hot wire, and a so-so ground. Rewired both, and now we're up and running.
