92 heritage ignition switch
Hello all, my mom just bought my dad a 92 FLSTC for his 60th birthday. And I had to put a new igntion switch in HD original (junk). And noticed that when you turn the switch to igntion it turns on the lights too?? Is this suppose to happen? Shouldn't the ignition just come on without the lights??? ill probaly need a daigram of how things are wired to that switch. Thanks in advance!

if it's the type of switch where the wires get screwed on around the switch you can wire it a vairity of ways. Generally the first click to the right is acc (lights) only an the second click is lights an ign. I wired mine were the first click was lights an ign.

Yes, the lights are suppose to come on with the ignition. You can't legally ride without your lights on, so it's wired so you don't have a choice. That way you can't forget to turn your lights on. When the bike is running, the lights are always on.
