Default 1987 Electra glide classic

Anyone know if there is a quick detach kit for a 1987 flhtc? Stripping mine down and will need the option for a sissy bar. Thanks

For the tour pack, there is no "kit." However, several people have been able to modify one for a twinkie and make it work. There are some threads on here that show it.

The qd tourpak kits didn't come out until several years after your bike was built - it's very much a modern thang! As Dr H points out a later one can be made to fit and I'm sure we have past threads on how to do it - you're not alone in wanting to do this.

I used a 97-up quick detach on my 89...IIRC the only thing I needed to do was adding a spacer as the back of there frames are wider than ours. You can adapt just about anything 97-up on our bikes, you just need to do a bit of modding or fabbing.

I see that all rear fenders are the same till 2008 or 07
wouldn't something work for a quick connect sissy bar and pad?

The '97-up mounts work on a bunch of "detachables". Don't over-think this.

Everything you need!

Tour pac, I never tried to do the backrest. When the ol'lady went I always ran the TP. That bike had a 2005 seat, rear fender, front fender, saddlebags, and tour pac. I moved the battery under the seat. All in all it was pretty easy to update. The later model stuff is bigger in every direction and you can hold more stuff for long distance. We would go for 5-6 days at a time sometimes, and it performed flawlessly.
