I have the opportunity to purchase a 1-owner, 97 Evo Road King. Only 4,400 miles, in amazing, showroom condition. Ridden very lightly and always maintained regularly... Bike is incredibly clean, could be sitting in a showroom. Motorcycle is 100% original, stock everything....including pipes & carburetor!
I am looking at making this bike my daily rider....and even though it’s over 20 years old you would think it’s a newer model. I like the simplicity of the bikes from this era along with the reputation of the Evo engines...
Thoughts on this bike? Any issues I should be aware of?
Buy it, providing he's not asking a ton of money for it. Change the fluids (motor, trans, primary, fork, brake), and plugs. Check the dates on the tires, and swap them out if needed. Swap out the INA cam bearing for Torrington.
After performing the noted maintenance, I would ride the wheels off that bike. Good bike, good motor, will give you years of faithful service. just do not be surprised by some gremlins caused by sitting too much. Good luck.
