so id like to upgrade my cam wondering which way i should go to gain lots more power and how much extra power would it produce

IMHO: EV27 or SE13 are your best choices for a bolt-in cam that won't require additional work.
See Brad's rec. above..if you want to see some real gains...pick a good carb and exhaust. That motor has to BREATHE to make power..!!

Take about 60 thou off those Cyl heads..........second the Mikuni.

Been through Sault crossing from Michigan to Ontario!

The critical part of your question is 'lots more'! To achieve that can involve lots more than just a cam, including higher compression ratio pistons and head work, plus exhaust system and new ignition system. How much are you giving us to spend?!

If you're just going to change out the cam, along with intake/exhaust and a tuner, you can probably do it for about a grand. If you want to get serious, you can build the engine from the cases on up, and spend a considerable amount more than $1000. If you're going that route, you might as well update the suspension and brakes as well. Oh yeah, and if you're going to do that, you might as well put a decent swing arm on there...

Do you see where this is going?

If you get the urge to do a frame off build like mine in the picture below, just take the amount you're budgeting for the project, and double it right now. You'll save yourself a lot of pain.

While the EV-27 is a decent cam it doesn't hit the power range till 3000rpm so to actually use it your on the throttle all the time, you'll find most the popular cams people recommend are like this. Look for a cam that starts making power in the range you ride in that starts coming in around 1500- 1800 rpm to 5k or so.

I'm a big fan of Vthunder cams just for this reason, bolt in's , easy on the lifters and quiet, no clatter like a lot of the popular fanboy cams.

Look at the EV series. Make good power where you live everyday not just hot ******* it.

30-3010 hydraulic • bolt-in • 80 inch engines • good low end torque and mid-range in heavy and light bikes • 1500 to 5800 rpm • excellent fuel mileage

30-3020 hydraulic • bolt-in • 80 inch engines • strong mid-range and upper end power with stock heads • 1800 to 6000 rpm

There's hotter ones but now your talking spring & retainer kits.

And to ad to the above, I have the 3010 in my dyna. Love it! It also has a reputation of being quiet. Less valve train noise than the ev27. My mileage jumped up 4 mpg and the bike is so much more enjoyable to ride.

Cam, carb or carb tuned up, air cleaner, exhaust, true up the bottom of the cylinders and have them rebored or cleaned up, shave the heads, valve job, new lifters, good ignition and enjoy. YD
