Default 80 evo engine swap

If this was asked already, I can't find it on this forum. Any motor heads know the biggest engine that'll fit into a 1996 electra glide frame ? and how involved re wiring the system for said engine would likely be ? Thanks in advance.

S&S 124".
Wiring it would be a piece of cake compared to modifying the rest of the drivetrain enough to handle it.
S&S 117" is about as big as you can go with a stock tranny, but you'll still tear up the clutch, belt, and sprockets eventually.
Belts aren't easy to change. Any change that big is going to affect other components. Just not worth it on a '96.

speaking from experience: S&S 124. fits with about ~ 5/8" to spare between rocker covers and backbone on frame

also speaking from experience, you're gonna be into it for ~ $12,000

the engine will run ya ~ $5500-7000, and you'll very quickly find the weak links in the rest of the drivetrain.

but it is a LOT of fun

You talkin EFI to carb wiring or do you already have a carb?

Will need a bigger clutch, good exhaust, good oil cooler and a Harley SE side car belt to hold the beast.

i have a 98 e-glide with an Ultima 120 they say the 127 will fit.. i know the 120 is close with the 4.25" stroke, i think the 127 is a 4.50"... so another 1/4 inch taller. should fit.
i went with a Barnett clutch kit and a screaming eagle spring. tried the scorpion and it was too grabby for me (for sale btw) and i always run a 2into1 exhaust. the engine came with its own ignition it was pretty much bolt in..

With a bit of surgery you can squeeze in an S&S 145", if you can find one! I believe there is an Ultima of similar size - perhaps a 140"? What mischief are you up to?!

yup Ultima has a 140 but you'll have to get to cutting to make it fit. lol

Same with the S&S 145", but we were asked 'how big?'!

For several years there was a new one for sale in its crate, in Holland, which was very tempting, but the frame surgery required was rather extreme!

The primary can handle the power no problem but I don't believe the five-speed transmission or anything else behind that will.

The output shaft will twist at the clutch basket, makes it a mother getting the clutch basket off, ask me how I know.
