I could not get that 180 main jet out so I just removed the emulsion tube. I have a stock emulsion tube with a 190 main jet that I was going to try before I go buying any more jets. According to my service manual the stock main jet was a 175 but I have no idea where that could be. If I remember correctly, the higher the number the richer it will run? Float height is good according to the service manual procedure.

I think your 190 will be very rich.

N8EA and 190/45 is what theTC 88 came with originally. I'll be very interested to hear how that works out (not being facetious).

Again, since it had some Dynojet kit parts in it, DO check the slide spring and hole in the slide. If the dealer put that stuff in, hopefully they didn't drill it out but the Screamin Eagle version of that kit did come with a lighter spring. Believe me, if one or either of those parts are modified, anything you do with jets will be masked by other issues as a result of a "bobble head" slide...

Well since CV-Performance is not taking orders right now, I'm going by my local HD dealer and getting a new slide as mine is old and I can see sun light thru it in spots. I'll be getting a new needle and a couple more main jets also. I probably will not put that 190 in it as it already was on the rich side with the 180. Anybody know the difference in the needles from EVO to TC?

Oh and I checked the slide and it was drilled out as a 1/8” drill bit is loose in the hole!

CV Performance was closed to assist with a Sturgis setup, will reopen tonight (Wednesday) to begin taking orders again.

BTW you can't mix DynoJet parts and stock parts. DJ made their main jets and tube with non standard threads so you can't mix and match, plus many DJ jets are now obsolete. As mentioned, you should replace the slide if it was drilled out to 1/8".

Thanks that’s good to know about CV-Performance because my HD dealer told me the needle is obsolete. I did get a new slide and a couple jets. And yes I read that on the CV-Performance website about the DynoJet and stock parts.

Just wanted to update my post as I got all the parts I needed from CV Performance(Thanks Ken!) and tuned it as best I could today. I went with a 45 pilot jet, 185 main jet, a CV Performance slide needle, new stock HD slide and rebuild gasket set. Started the idle mixture screw at 1&3/4 out, turned it in until I heard a difference in the engine and then backed it out a 1/2 turn. Took it for a ride, the power felt the same to me and I still have some exhaust backfiring on deceleration but only with the clutch lever released. Once it cooled down some I pulled the spark plugs and they look perfect. Thanks for all the help and input!
