I ran Dunlop D402s for years, me and everyone I rode with got 5k on the rear, 10k on the front. I thought I was really doing something to find the Metzlers that out performed the D402s AND would go 7500 rear, 15k front.
The Michelins sound like a real leap forward!
Went from the stockers to CII's on my '14 Super Glide. Handling was awesome, although they did feel stiffer. Maybe that's why they handled better. Traded the bike in on my '15 RGS before I could see what the mileage was.
As soon as the stock tires went on the RGS I went right to the CII's. Loved 'em. Awesome in the rain. Averaged 14k-16k on the rear, (that's with 98bhp/108tq to the tire) and 20k++ on the fronts. No complaints at all. Great tires.
My bike had the Harley Dunlop tires when I got it, although probably not the originals at 29k miles. Long story short, I switched the the Commander II's a couple of years ago and like them much better.
My favorite thing is that the Commander II's don't try to follow the grooves in the pavement like the Dunlops did.

funny you say that cuz I was on the road yesterday with a lot of tar snake and let me tell you that front end was all over the place with those tires....
