Interstate speeds
I just returned from a nice trip south and used I81 to make quick time back up the road.
I usually ride back roads and 55/60 speed limit highways. I was mighty uncomfortable running 70-75 at first. amazing how quickly you get accustomed to it. I went over 90 a couple of times, the bike had the ability to go faster, I did not!!! ... damn thing felt like it was on ice skates! I used a nice twisty mountain road for the last 70 or so miles home and I was riding a good 10mph faster than I usually run... Speed is a bit addictive I guess!
I’ll be back to puttin’ in no time!

in 2006 i took a trip from Pa to Quincy Illinois with a few friends and doing 75-80 most of the time... seamed funny when we got out there and we were talking about how that seamed so fast when we started and how comfortable it seamed after only a few hundred miles... btw that trip was 2,000 mi round trip 2 days out 2 days there and 2 days back.. got home unloaded the bike and rode out for dinner lol
Down here in Florida...80 mph will allow you to juussstttt about keep up with the flow of traffic. Some people will still be blowing by you, but not EVERY one. Sometimes I run with he flow...sometimes I get over in the right lane and just cruise along at 65 or so...all depends upon my mood, and ( of course...) road conditions, etc.
Not sure if this is relevant, but since a lot of people relate speed to danger, and are uncomfortable at the higher speeds on the interstates..I thought it might be worth adding a personal note. This my personal observation, based upon 45 yrs and over 400,000 mi.traveling on 2-wheels by myself, with friends, and in packs with a motorcycle club.
In that time...I buried a lot of Brothers and Sisters killed in motorcycle accidents. Once again..this is my personal experience...NONE of them were killed on an interstate.

I don’t avoid interstates because I think they’re inherently more dangerous. I’m guessing they are safer because the ingress/egress is better engineered and the oncoming traffic is usually separated by a very wide median ditch.
I avoid them because I just don’t find it enjoyable riding at high speeds. I prefer the up and down, curvy backroads.
The down side to taking the long way; It’s a regular thing to have someone crossing the yellow line, while looking at a screen, and people blowing through a stop sign, because they are accustomed to having the road to themselves.
I don’t envy you flat landers! Lol
