Default 95 Bad Boy steering flop

Just added another one to the stable. Picked up this 95 Bad Boy yesterday with 28k on the clock. Got a a pretty sweet deal on the bike but it has a few issues. Been sitting for a while (last tagged in '14) Engine runs strong and made the 125 mile ride back home well but probably needs some attention although the cutting out and failure to idle properly got better after I blew the suet out of it on the way back.

Worst problem I see right now is the amount of flop the spring front end has. It's bad enough that the bike wants to really dive one way or the other at low speeds and requires firm control of the bars.

This is my first springer and I'm hoping that some of you gurus will have some suggestions as to how to best deal with the situation.

Trying to figger out how to post a pic..

First thing I would check for wheel wanting to dive one way or the other is front wheel bearing end play.
When I set end play on my front bearings the first time I got them too loose and that's the way the front wheel acted.
Granted mines not a springer so your cure might be different.

Thanks man. Yeah I'm gonna have to find a shop manual on the bike.

It has been modified, mostly cosmetically, but still is a pretty rare bike and I'm going to enjoy using it as a hopper.

Still can't figger out why I can't post a pic

Run your tire pressure to 36PSI cold.
(Rear is 41PSI cold.)
Since you have "linkage" up front, you might want to get a service manual (unless you're used to those front ends.)

Had to air up the tires before I took off on it. Front tire called for 41psi too so that's what she got. Don't think this is a tire pressure issue but I guess I could be wrong..

I remember getting too much air in the 21" front of my old Sportster. Not sure I'd call it flop, but it surely liked going where I pointed it in a hurry; sometimes it seemed like it read my mind and moved before I completed the thought!

I know the spring fork requires a lot more maintenance than the typical hydraulic. I'd wonder several things - neck bearing condition/adjustment, wheel bearing condition/endplay/adjustment, and whether actual fork maintenance performed.
