I have some kind (I don't know the brand) of AGM battery. it was bought in 2008 so I guess it's 11 years old. still cranking my 85 without any problem.

Hey! Good timing! I'm in the market for a new battery right now myself. I bought a BTX30L but it was too fat for my '96 Road King. 400 CCA sounded good to me. I'll look into some of these. I've got a Harley AGM that's 4 years old now. Thanks for the info.

I personally don't think you're going to buy a better battery than and interstate battery. I always take my battery out of the Blake in the winter time and stored in my house because my shop does not have heat. Three or four years ago I was bringing it home and it fell over in the back of my Jeep and just happened to land on the metal scraper portion of my shovel with shorted the positive to the negative it melted the connections pretty badly and actually started on fire, luckily enough where I pulled over there was a puddle and I threw the battery in the puddle to put the fire ou that following spring I put the battery back in the bike and used it for 3 or 4 years before it finally gave out... That's how good they. I believe in interstate batteries, I think they are one of the top batteries out there at a reasonable price. Remember you get what you pay for... Here's a picture to show you what I was talking about....

FWIW I had to give up on Interstate batteries in my trucks as I would only get about 2 years out of a 5 year battery.
I guess they do a better job on motorcycle batteries than they do car batteries.

Me too. I have no idea how old the battery is in my Heritage. I've had it for three years, and I have no idea how long it's been in the bike.

If I start the bike at least once a week, it starts pretty quickly and all is good.

If I go a couple of weeks without starting, or it's cold, it'll only crank about 15 seconds max. If the bike hasn't started by then, the solenoid starts clicking and I'm hooking up the charger.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Who goes 2 or 3 weeks without riding? Me, sometimes.

I haven't figured out yet why it takes so long to start if it's sat for a couple weeks. But if I hook the charger up for 10 or 15 minutes, it fires right up.

Anyway, I want to replace the battery, so it's good to read what others choose for their bikes..

FWIW, I've got Yuasa's in both of my Ironheads, and they seem to be working fine for me.

But I'm always open to new ideas.

A local auto repair shop sold Interstate batteries for decades, they switched brands two years ago because they started to have so many problems with them.

Seeing tons of batteries available online....and pretty fair prices. Are there any recommendations?

I've had the Big Crank for the past 5 years. Always on a Battery Tender over the winter. Still going strong. Probably will get another one for next season, just because...

Big Crank in the 103" Twinkie, Mega Crank in the 130"

Always did get 4 years with a Harley battery when engine was 80" and 89" just started seeing the Harley battery going to $179 - $189 getting steep when a $99 - $109 battery can start the biggest engines and hold up.
