IMHO, I don't think trickle chargers do any good for batteries (if left constantly on for long periods of time)....They put a constant charge on the battery which I don't think is any good for them.. In the winter I take my battery out of the bike and I put it in the house. Come spring I charge it up and I'm good to go for another year... in the 16 years that I owned my Fatboy I am currently only on my third battery...

Got a harley battery that was in mine when I bought it,the previous owner said it was old but always on a tender he guestimated it to be 8 yrs old n it's still very strong. I'll be checking w Deka when she gives up the ghost. Thnks for providing that pc of info I can save a few bucks by avoiding the HD markup.
Ended up getting a Deka battery from Lowes.....with a coupon for a total of $97.23. If it has a problem...Ill bring it back to store.
I thought about buying online....but, if a battery had issues and needed to be returned....sounds like a major PITA to me. Plus, Warranty claims on a online bought battery seemed difficult as well.
Theres a bunch of Lowes open 7 days a week.....returning or exchanging it is just too easy especially if Im out traveling.
Alma has a $58.00 Max Power AGM from the internet. I wanted CHEAP to get her on the road. Surprisingly it has no problems whatever starting her with that big engine. I will figure out what size it is when I pull the engine.
Above all else I suggest getting an AGM type. Modern batteries are in any event higher performance than when our bikes first came out of the factory, so adding the improved AGM type should provide a reliable long-life battery. My 2011 Sporty is still on its original (OMG - what have I said?!) and my 2007 Buell is only on its first replacement.
My project bike came with a Interstate battery purchased in 2017. During the remodel it's next to my Limited on a Harley trickle.
My Limited is on it's second Harley battery, the first lasted not quite 4 years. Those little ***** are expensive.
Only had 1 experience with a Interstate battery. During a bass tournament on LBJ about 4 years ago, one of my trolling motor batteries crapped out from the get go, bought a new interstate deep cycle at the marina, it lasted not quite 2 years. Normally the neverstart deep cycles I get at wally world last on average 4 years for half what I payed for the interstate.
