Default Engine guard/highway bar

Hey guys... was wondering if anyone knew what (year range) highway bars will fit my 89 flhtcu... I have not been able to determine if different year models bars will work... I called lindby and they said they only had one that would work on my bike and it would have to be made... fleabay hasn’t done anything but confuse me more on what will fit my frame... is 84-99 the right year range for my 89...

The main changeover was when they went from using the engine guard as the air reservoir to using the handlebars. I'm not sure which one you have. Where's the Shrader valve? If you have air in the handlebars, ignore the engine guard air valve/connections on an early bar. If you have air in the engine guard bar and buy one without the connections, either add the connections for the air or change to the handle bar style.

I put a 2000-something crashbar on my 89...IIRC I had to drill new holes for the bottom. But the bar I bought for the 87 bolts right up and I have no idea what it came off of, just that its a touring bar.

Thru '96 will work with handlebar air reservoir. OEM part number 49184-88A. Part number changed in '97 but I've no idea what the difference is in the actual part.
