Default Touring Model Engine Guard Fitment

I had bicep tendon surgery two weeks ago. Saw the Dr. for the follow up and learned my recover will be longer than expected. I'll miss Sturgis but have another trip planned for the end of August. She said I will be able to operate the bike and ride ok but if it tips to the left, she said let it go. Problem is I don't have a engine guard/crash bar on my bike.

I've looked at different sites for a fitment guide and see most show fitting 88-96, some showed later years, another guy said all evo touring engine guards are interchangeable. Does anyone have any real world, first hand knowledge what fits and what doesn't? Don't need new, just something to keep it from going all the way over. Anyone have one in the garage to fit a '94?

I would GUESS that the difference between the 88-up and my 86 is that the 86 has the front anti-dive air reservoir in the crash bar. They went to the handlebars sometime after my bike. Of course, besides an air line fitting and a Schrader valve, the two crash bars should be the same.

Looks like 88-96 part number on Ronnie's for a 94 is 49184-88a. Part Changed in 97.
