LOL!

Side observation: I'm a little amazed that the plugs that fill the access holes on those stay in place, given how relatively little effort is needed to take them out.

anyway, I took a short ride, and it seems better. There's a bit more vibration, but not bad. It no longer streers when I use the rear brake, so that's nice. Thanks for the help!
My experience is that both front and rear mounts need some time to settle in. I don't know if it's the motor/trans/swingarm system settling into its correct position, or the rubber in the mounts breaking in, but give it 500 miles and I bet it smooths out.

Everything was going so well, I thought I'd replace the front mount, too. Earlier this week/last week, I replaced the oem mount with a new 79d mount. the bike should really badly with it, so I put the rotten old one back in. All was good. I ordered a new 79b Buell mount hoping that would fit better. NOPE. The bike shakes. It's not even a vibration. It shakes. I worry about it breaking things as bad as it is. I rode it about 4 miles, and it was putting my hands to sleep. The last time I rode a bike that shook this bad, my shovel top motor mount had come loose.

What could it be? I tightened all but the three bolts on the mount itself before I started it and let it run a bit. Then, I tightened the last 3.

I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong. My top and front alignment links fit as they should. I put the D mount back in. It shakes but not as bad. I'm sure if I put the old mount back in, it would be smooth again, but that's not fixing it.

I can't seem to figure this issue out. I've swapped between the b and d mounts about 6 or 7 times, this afternoon with no improvement. I've tried loosening the pivot, one or both stabilizer links, and anything else I could think of. I finally ended up with the old mount back in, and the bike is smooth as silk again. The only thing I can tell between the three is the old mount is about 1/8" shorter than the other two. I'm not sure how that could make a difference, but that's all I can come up with.

Do they over-vibrate at all RPM levels or just in spots?

A few years ago I got an offer coupon from J&P. Just enough to cover one of their house brand front mounts.

Got it on and had a devilish vibe right around 1000 RPM. Like you said earlier, made you think something was going to break.

It settled in and eventually ran smooth, but it took a good 500 miles to get there.

Have you checked your alignment?

my alignment is good. vibration is at all rpms. I might try to install one upside down. I think the height difference is keeping the engine from "settling" on the mount.

Dumb question... Are you using a torque wrench?

not a dumb question. Yes, I've tried 10 and 40. no change. Next chance I get, I'm going to put one of the new mounts in upside down. I think the height of the mounts is the problem.

Okay. Dumb question for sure. Are the rubber mounts getting a solid squish. Or are they barely snug?
My opinion on this is that they should be a visible bulge. Not huge, but enough to tell you they fill in nice. A tight fit, not one that may float

I've tried installing the new mount upside down. That did not help. I've tightened the **** out of it right side up. That didn't help either.

Try running it with the bolt sitting loose.
