Thanks guys! Yep, I saw the overseas prices, and figured I'd pass on those. I need to contact those couple salvagers that were posted. Thanks for those!

I'm assuming the shop that has my bike doing the repairs checked with The MoCo for NOS inventory, as he was the one who initially told me the part was obsolete. I'll head up to the local dealership and do another check. I also need to order a new front fender trim piece for the bottom rear.

The existing bag guard, is in pretty bad shape, as is the front crash bar. The front was bent all to heck, and luckily was still available new. The rear has a pretty large flat spot from grinding on the concrete at 40 mph. I don't think much could be done with it. Unless I find a NOS or a really nice used one, I'll just put it back on until I can locate a decent one. It didn't bend out of shape, and the ground down area isn't readily visible.

On a side note, the bike repairs are going great. I've had to compromise a bit to keep costs down, but I did have a spare set of saddlebags, which helped a lot. The new paint/striping looks factory new. I think it'll all be around $2500 to get me back in the wind next spring. Assuming nothing else crops up.

You should never assume someone else did something.
You can save yourself some gas and just do it over the phone.

Update: Located a NOS (actually they have three on their shelf) 49176-93. Shaeffer's HD in Orwigsburg, PA. House of Harley in WI also has one in stock. $114.95 + $6.90 tax + $17 shipping from Shaeffer's. I might be able to do some more digging for a good used part, but I went ahead and ordered the NOS from Shaeffer's. They were great to talk with, and they'll ship it out UPS today for me.

While I was doing the search with my local dealership, I ordered the fender trim: Part 59228-91, which should be here next week.

Thanks to THC for reminding me to do that search myself!

You'd think at 69 years of age, I'd have realized that by now. I'm starting to really lose it...

But I did do it all on the phone.

If it's not too late, found this with a simple google search of the part number followed by 'harley part'

I've used Pinwall a few times and been very happy - from the UK!

I've used Boon, but I live in the UK. It doesn't make much sense to me for you chaps to buy in Europe and then ship back to the USA. They've already been shipped from the USA once, with all manner of costs plus taxes added at this end, to then add yet further costs shipping and importing them back into the USA - that's bound to be darned expensive, with two lots of extra costs added! Harley parts are a darned sight rarer here in Europe than in North America, so we have an extra premium to pay.
