Default Difference between two cylinder head serial numbers

Hey guys quick question I’m might need to purchase a new rear cylinder head the one I have is serial number 16720-84a and I found one online for a decent price but it’s stamped 16720-84. Would that One still be compatible with my bike? Thanks in advance

Yes it is,
The letter designator behind a part number changes when Harley sources the part from a different place or material it's made from is upgraded but the basic design doesn't change.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to have the guide replace?

Seems like a drastic way to repair a small problem...

But I`m not an expert on HD cylinder heads.

My only option would be to remove the valve guides or hone them out correct ?

No.. take it to a local shop and have them press out the old one and press in a new one... Very easy for a credited shop..
