So I got a clear patch of weather yesterday and took it for a 50 mile burn. It was chugging blue smoke at idle pretty good. Beginning to doubt if the top end really was done or seller was BS'ing. Anyways she pulls HARD and motor is very quiet (but exhaust sound from pro-pipe is wicked!) so I'm not too concerned about major components failing. Rode her up to a very reputable indy last night and going to have him go through it. He's going to check the breathers first for sure but he's more thinking along the lines of valve guides or seals. Either way we both agreed the motor runs strong so we'll see what he discovers. I don't have a lot of time wrenching and this is going to be my touring bike for trips and dailying this season so I figured I'd put it in a pro's hands. Super reasonable guy. I'm thinking in the future here I'm going to pick up an old sportster as a townie and learn how to rebuild on that because I want a reliable ride for daily and trips. Anyways we'll see how it goes. Maybe rings are gone.. Or maybe it was a fresh top and not seated or broken in properly? Oh well I guess I'll know soon enough. BTW still can't post pics I guess I don't have enough posts yet but as soon as I can I will add on here. Cheers!!

Make sure you have your indy do a compression test and a leak down test and you want all the numbers. I've seen guides create blue smoke in a Shovel but those heads are a different breed.. once you get the test results of each cylinder, post them up..
So far when I checked compression with it cold and throttle closed it was showing 149 in both cylinders. Might be a bit before I hear from this mech I took it too but will keep posted on the numbers as I get the info.
