An OD6 truly is the way to go providing you have the motor to pull it... It's probably the best investment I made on my 98... The N1 shift drum it's very nice as well never have to worry about Nuetral when banging gears... Probably the nicest feature about it is once rolling you really don't need the clutch any more..

Your ride looks sweet. You still have several months before a decent riding season starts.

I know it's a 5 speed, yes going to be pulling gears with a 5 or 6 except displacement can pull out of low rpm's without dropping gears so your statement isn't actually appropriate when talking displacement. Dropping gears with a over sized exhaust on a small cubic inch Harley motor is more of a reality, components need to match for a Evo to be efficient.

You have a beautiful bike and I'll take a Evo bagger over any new bike. I'm on your side but by far not new at this, something I post is either because "it didn't work" "it worked" "f**ked it up" or "having fun" which all 4 should be part of riding plus helping others.

Ahhh I mis queued on your joke their I was into the cups lol. I know what you’re saying I understand fully that displacement and a 6 speed are the best ways to produce and use power effectively but it’s simply not in the question now as I’ve bought the 80” I should’ve clarified on the money spending it’s most definitely not unlimited and between my lady, kids, and my other money pit fishing boat I gotta work with what I got. I could have hung on and found a 96” bolted up to a six speed in a Dyna for close to the same price as I’ll be into this bagger for but there’s something about having something as it ages and let’s face it 90’s cars and bike are becoming classics.. Seen the price of clean Foxbody Mustangs lately? F***!!

I do truly appreciate any help and suggestions because I will experiment with stuff on my own too and an exhaust is an interesting one. Pretty much every bike that my dad had over the years was running a 2-1 Vance and Hines or Thunderheader. It was like the automatic baptism at our household hahaha. Old red here just so happened to have the pro pipe on her so naturally I got hard for the bike lol. But the PO has done some very tasteful mods to the bike on externals like Pingle Petcock, SandS oil pump, SE cleaner with CV under the stock FI air box which I absolutely love.. I dunno I love that the cover says it’s FI it’s like having a fast wood paneled station wagon So I cant help but think this thing was really built by a pro and it goes good for what it is. Like really good

Any way I didn’t mean to come off like a c*** and I do appreciate the sharing of info it’s why I’m here too, I’m still learning. So it’s an 80 incher for the next foreseeable future with standard upgrades and very nicely tuned. Like snap snap throttle right there..

What other exhaust options would you recommend?

Cheers!

Pro Pipe fan myself, have 2 of the older obsolete ones but needed something bigger. Strength of the older Pro Pipes is back pressure can be adjusted so we are going to make yours work because it looks bad azz on the bike and the sound is all it's own.

The baffle on your competition pipe is removable by taken out 3 allen bolts, your going to see the baffle is small in length and large in diameter plus straight thru for big cube engines, all you do is weld a washer at the inlet to restrict the straight thru design and instant back pressure. One of my Pro Pipes had the competition baffle and needed to restrict it on a 100 hp Evo. Your Comp pipe will most likely have the little bit of packing gone because it's normal so just work on the baffle inlet and can make that pipe work saving some coin.

Deleted the pictures of welding the washer in the inlet of the baffle but you should get a idea when removed, the quiet baffle has a solid freeze out plugged tack welded in the inlet of the baffle channeling all of the flow around the baffle into the little bit of packing when new.
