The only thing I found is the new spring pack is set deeper than the old one.
New one on right.

Housing not really in play. Spring stack height is what matters. Turn them over so springs are down on same plane. Measure height of housings, are they the same?

^^ Yes
With them oriented like shown... does one exhibit more spring pressure, when compressed??
The Thrust on the left one sure looks like it has been turned against the Sliding shaft...while they should be Together... not turning independently...
What does the Cup, just under the Spring pack, look like???

That's what I was trying to show with the pictures.
The right side is sprung up by about 1/8th of an inch compared to the new one.
Housings are the same size from what I could tell.

I have no way of measuring spring pressure.
Without removing the springs I can't tell you that.

Sure you do... put the sliding shaft on the cup and press down!!!
What does the Cup look like where it rides against the Spring thrust... again. that part looks to me like it has been sliding against each other...

Sliding shaft?????
Either way I can't compare them at this time because I've already assembled the bike.
When I can wear boots again I'll take it for a test ride and see what happens.

#34 in the parts book....I guess they call it the sliding Cam!!!!
And, I suspect the Cup #35 is showing the same Sliding/wear marks as the Thrust face of your "Retainer and Cover"

Hey Tex, have you considered the rotor magnets coming unglued? Lots of noise and probably ruin stater...

Yep that was one of the first things I checked.
I also checked the primary chain for any broken or damaged links.

Like I said the only damage I could find was on the spring pack.
