Are you running an S&S E carburetor? If so you should be using blue loctite on the air horn bolts.. definitely gonna need a tear down. Post up some pics when torn down, of the combustion chamber and the top of the Pistons.. All repairable but the cost and downtime suck..
So the head has a chunk missing out of it. The piston has a bolt imprint in it. Thinking I’m just gonna rebuild it. Stroke it, get some jugs pistons and see if I can massage that head a little. I know a guy that can tig weld it fo me. And I’ll just fix it. Already have it torn most of the way down
Sorry it happened and it's a tough learning experience... The heads can be repaired. If you're gonna stroke it go right to a 96" build.. I did and the power potential it's awesome.. S&S had a 96" cylinder kit but your gonna have to bore the cases but your going to have to go that deep anyways.. my setup produced 114 tq and 111 hp. 100lbs torque@2800 RPM.

Ive heard of guys cracking the case when they bore it to accept larger jugs. I know there’s an oil port or something that can crack. Did you notice anything like that? Or have you heard?
On the older cases yes. By what I heard from a machine shop from Upstate NY is that somewhere around 93 the Moco went to Mercury Marine for their cases and that they were casting them from an aluminum called Mercalloy. Stronger than anything previously used and can handle boring for a larger spigots.. I've never had an issue.. Just make sure that if you do stroke it, get the entire assemble balanced..

I'll second the 96" kit. When I took this basket apart I found it to be an S&S 96" kit....she ran like a rapped ape, trying to lift the front tire in 2nd and 3rd under hard acceleration. REALLY....REALLY fun!
