Hey all. Anyone know what the rise on stock handlebars are on a 1997 FLHT? The bars on my FLHR are terrible, I'd like to set it up like my '97. I swap the Corbin saddle between both bikes, and am trying to the FLHR close to the same riding position as the FLHT
What it's the rise of your current bars?
I I went to a set of bars off of 2011 Street glide pretty square down at the base but they're 8-in and I put them on my '77 super glide and I love the positions of my hands they're just under my shoulder they're awesome..
Peering across the Atlantic it seems your FLT bars #55924-97 are still available new? Also check Ebay, as there are several advertised with that part number.
Thanks for all the replies. The bars on the Road King are so low, the elbows of the throttle cables touch the gas cap, killing my back. This bike has custom everything, so I want to put some nice looking bars on it with more rise, but I really don't wants the expense of changing all the braided and coated Barnett lines and cables. Hoping either 8 or 10 inch will fit. the bushings are shot as well.

This is what it looked like when I got it last year, I ****-canned that terribly ugly seat and made some other minor mods like custom dynamic turn signals in the bags (they work great!). This was my Dad's bike, he turned 74 and doesn't ride anymore. The paint is great, but not everyone's thing. It was built for a Pittsburgh Steeler running back named Merril Hodge who is an avid hunter/ outdoorsman (hence the wildlife paint job).
I remember Merryl Hodge.. I guess it's a collector piece. When I asked for a pick though I was talking mainly one of the bars to be able to better visualize the rise.. Thinking my Fatboy bars might be a nice upgrade..
Gotcha. This is the only pic I have here at work. Its amazing how low and forward these bars are. I'm guessing he's a bit shorter than I am. My barn has 5 bikes in it now, hard to get enough room to really take pics.
