Default JP ribbed headlight wiring?

yesterday got front end finished and wired up headlight and directionals. replace S&S G carb and intake with S&S E carb and intake. pics of valves on the intake side of the heads.

front head

rear head

and the headlight. my question is the JP ribbed H4 headlight has extra wires, what are they for? only needed the main 3 wires to get the light working but there are the extra yellow wire with spade connector and the extra smaller black wire,,, ????

Is there a positioning light bulb in the headlight?

The "fitment" info on J&P says this headlight should fit my '96 Heritage Classic FLSTC.

Looking at the wiring diagram for my bike in the FSM it shows the white, yellow, and black wires coming from the main harness. It also shows the two black wires are connected together, and the second one is connected to ground. Do you have an ohm meter to confirm the two black wires are connected together inside the headlight?

And the drawing shows another yellow wire goes to the "passing lamp switch used on all FLSTC models except Australian". I assume that would be the one with the spade connector on it.

.

ok that make sense, I will have to check that second black wire with the meter to see if they are connected inside. I don't have passing lamps so the thought never crossed my mind. I will just tape it up for later use if I install passing lamps.. thanks
