My next upgrade will be to replace my stock ignition module. Current upgrades are S&S E carb kit,Andrews EV-27 cam, Samson
silverbullet mufflers, and 40,000 volt coil. Got on the Twin tec site and the ignition module for my 86 EVO sounds like the perfect completion (haha)
of my upgrades. Any first hand knowledge of this module would be appreciated. Sounds trick with the rev limiter, dual or single fire coil capability, single or multi spark (ala MSD-6 for cars), and standard or racing advane options. what do you all know?
My buddy Mike Phillips runs them in his Grandeur Cycles, I have had one in my last three choppers.....you cant go wrong. You will be very happy with it.
Dalton....I think he is talking about just the ignition....cause he has an evo motor.......We run dual coils on most everything....not really sold on the multi spark thing....not sure you really benefit from it...but they are first class parts.
I guess it pays to read the original post a bit closer....I do know the EVO set-up, I had a couple of them....lot of typing for info that was useless [8D]
you're right, shooter64. Talking about replacing the stock ignition module in the nose cone of 86 EVO. The Twin-
Tec Module I'm referring to is Model 1005 Internal (Nose Cone) Ignition. http://www.daytona-twintec.com/model_1005.html
Seems like the added features make the $250 or so reasonable. hope this helps to finite what i'm looking at!!
Just ordered the 1005 kit this morning from Eastern Performance Cycles (sponsor site) for $ 249, free shipping. Said it'll be in mail today. Gotta take my tank back off and set the motor at TDC in preparation. This kit is $ 320 on Daytona Twin Tec site>>> module, wiring, single fire coil set that'll fit on my stock mount. I'm all giddy. J&P wanted abot $275 + shipping for just the module only. Tried to talk me into the Crane Hi-4
for approx $319. Then another $200 for USB interface. Twin Tec interface goes for about $110. With current mods I doubt that I'll need that feature. Once I get it installed I,ll fine tune my E carb and should be good to go!!! Thx to all who responded and helped. Especially shooter64.
Updates on install and first impression will be forthcoming. Yahoo!!
