Alignment screws necessary when Installing lifter blocks?

Been done without... easier with ... More accurate too.... generally.

I didn’t use one when I did mine. Worked out fine. Take your time.

Being the oil port is so small it's critical to get it lined up.
But when I did my CAM, I misplaced the alignment bolts so
I did it without them and hope I did it good enough.

Edit: then I found them when I was finished.

Before putting the lifter block on, put the gasket down and two bolts and see where your oil port lines up in the case to the gasket.. Open it up a little if you need to... You should be good..
Technically the pins are to ensure the alignment of the block so the lifter wheel rides true on the cam...

I use a flathead bolt ... the taper on the bottom side of the head works to line up the block

Last time, I used a couple of the countersink screws from a S&S air cleaner cover. Worked fine.
