Default Adjusting Progressive 422 preload

Refresh my memory please. I have Progressive 422's on my '93 Heritage Classic. If I want to adjust them for a softer ride do I want more preload or less preload? Which direction to I turn for a softer ride - clockwise or counter clockwise? Thanks in advance.

I can only suggest checking Progressive's website - I think they have instructions there?
