I wouldn't bother taking the clutch hub apart unless he can't find anything else wrong.

I definitely would if I were pulling the primary cover and original clutch set up Id be checking the condition of the grenade plate it literally takes 10 min

I get what you're saying but I highly doubt the spring plate is his problem.

That That would be the first thing I would check..it's more prone to failure than anything else in there... At 30k that is....

While that's true I have yet to see a failed spring plate cause a leak.
I'm just saying I'd look other places first.

I think it would be wise to remove the outer primary cover, and remove the clutch plates and discs to see if the spring plate is still intact.

You will need a spring compressor to remove the snap ring.

I didn't treat the two as related... Hell it could be the front o-ring seal on the inner primary who knows.. OP never stated is front or rear or whatever... I'm only talking about the noise..

I was but like you said if they aren't related then the most likely culprit is the spring plate.
