This is how I understood as it was explained to me...
The 514 patch is a representation of the US MILITARY VETS MC. The 5 represents the 5th letter in the Alphabet letter E And the 14 represents the 14th letter N. Those two stand for Eagle Nation, under which is the Bald Eagle and naturally our great country or Nation that the US Vets represent and protect... With this patch identification, no matter where I travel in this Great Nation, if I was to brake down any where all I would have to do it's give my local chapter club President (Who have me the patch) a call and he would then contact the Chapter president of the area I'm in to help a stranded Brother.. it's probably one of the best friendships or networks to have... I consider myself privaledged to have this...
RAF Greenham Common/Welford 79-81.. munition maintenance specialist.. yeah the F4 was loud but I guess you would need to have to be to fly at 80,000 feet or reconnaissance... I remember one time I was catching a hop out of Mindenhall and all of a sudden the building started shaking... A freaking SR-71 was coming in and an SR-71 was going out I was freaking unbelievable man the watch them things.. They're more like a rocket than they are a jet. Even the runway was totally surrounded by MP's.. It was pretty cool to see that..
Yep, I'm hijacking the thread...sort of...Ramstein 80-83 (F-4s)

Why are they patching new people that don't want to be members??[/QUOTE]
They're not patching in people that don't want to be members. What they are doing is recognizing those that are always helping out with the functions of raising money for ABATE.. The Veterans put on a lot of functions here on Long island and I contribute and help as much as I can and donate. The nice thing about it is all the money we raise here in Long island goes to those vets here on Long island that need the most help.. So I guess you can say that I was rewarded for my efforts and helping out..
Fantastic! I'm jealous because I can't find a club to ride with.
If you are just interested in finding like minded people that enjoy riding without any of the club politics, check out the Southern Cruisers Riding Club (SCRC). I just started riding with them a few months ago, and I've met some nice people and been on a number of enjoyable rides.

I believe there are a number of groups that offer this type of service. One always sees Russ Brown at the various events promoting their BAM program.
